How the Marvel Rivals Ranked Ladder Works

Competitive in Marvel Rivals runs through nine ranks: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All. Every rank from Bronze to Celestial is split into three divisions, and each division takes 100 rank points to clear - you gain points on wins and lose them on defeats. Strong personal performance softens the math: an MVP win pays out more, an SVP performance in a loss cuts the penalty, and win streaks add bonus points on top. From Eternity upward divisions disappear entirely - progress becomes a points leaderboard, with One Above All reserved for the top 500 players on the ladder. A Chrono Shield protects you from dropping out of a tier on a bad night, but it takes time to recharge once spent.

Seasons, Placements, and the Repeating Climb

Seasons run about two months, split into two halves, and every new season pulls your rank down before the ladder reopens. Since Season 5 the reset works through placement matches: your first 10 ranked games run against a predicted rank, and the results set your actual starting rank for the season - finish strong and you can place above where the reset dropped you. Two things are easy to miss: placements must be fully completed to receive any of that season's ranked rewards, and reward eligibility also requires at least 10 Competitive matches played. That combination is why the start of a season is the busiest window on the ladder - everyone is re-climbing at once.

Season 9 Ranked Rewards

The first half's headline reward is the Jubilee Crimson Crown costume, granted for reaching Gold or higher - and like every half-season, the second half brings its own Gold-tier costume after the mid-season update. Higher up sit the Nameplate Frames and the Crests of Honor: Crests run from Grandmaster upward, each tier with its own design, and the One Above All Crest goes to the top 500 at season's end. Every piece of it is tied to this season alone - once Season 9 closes, its set is gone from the game.

Why Ranking Up Solo Is Slow

Solo queue math is unforgiving: at a 50% win rate you barely move, because every point gained is traded back on the next loss. The higher you climb, the more the format itself works against you - lobbies from Gold upward add hero bans, so a one-trick hero pool stops working, and from Celestial onward you can only queue solo or as a duo, cutting off the full-stack coordination that carries lower ranks. A boost cuts through all of it with a player whose mechanics and hero pool hold a win rate far above 50%, in exactly the solo-or-duo format the top of the ladder allows.
