What Locks When Season 2 Opens

Midnight Season 1 pays out across three ladders, and all three close on the same day. Raids lose the tier-limited achievements: Ahead of the Curve for the Heroic final bosses of the three main raids, Cutting Edge for the Mythic ones, and the Ashes of Belo'ren mount from Mythic March on Quel'Danas. Mythic+ loses the whole seasonal Keystone chain, from Conqueror at the bottom through Master, Hero, Legend, and Myth, along with the mounts attached to them and the Umbral Champion and Umbral Hero placements at the very top. Rated PvP loses the class Elite transmog set, Weapon Illusion: Galaxy, the seasonal titles, and the Gladiator mount. Nothing in that list carries into Season 2, because Season 2 issues its own versions of every one of them.

When the Door Actually Closes

Blizzard has not announced a date. Patch 12.1, Curse of Ula'tek, is on the PTR, and Season 2 begins one week after that patch goes live. That is the whole of what is known, and anyone quoting you an exact day is guessing. What it means in practice is simple: the deadline is not ours to move, and the only thing that protects an order is runway. Rating pushes and raid lockouts both take weeks, so the difference between booking early and booking late is the difference between a comfortable schedule and a coin flip.

What Does Not Expire

Not everything in Midnight is on a clock, and it is worth knowing what you are not in a hurry for. Gear, tier sets, and the Great Vault reset in value rather than vanish, and the raid bosses themselves stay killable long after the season closes. Sporefall is the clearest example: Rotmire's per-difficulty kills are permanent achievements rather than seasonal ones, which is why the Sporefall runs are not on this page. The rule of thumb is that anything with a season number in its name is on the clock, and anything without one is not.
