Illusion: Venomcoil and Rival II

Every season gets one PvP weapon illusion, and Season 2's is Venomcoil. It reads as a root coiled around the hilt with poisonous green clouds coming off the blade, which is about as on-theme as Blizzard could make it for a patch built around the Coiled Isle, the Amani and a serpent goddess sealed under a temple. The only way to it is Rival II: Midnight Season 2, the achievement for reaching 1950 rating in rated PvP during the season. It is a weapon enchant appearance rather than an enchant, so it goes over whatever you are actually running and stays in your collection once it is unlocked. Illusions are also the loudest cosmetic in the game: it sits on your weapon in every fight, every lobby and every inspect.

Where 1950 Sits on the Ladder

Worth being straight about, because the number gets oversold. 1950 is not Gladiator and it is not a top cutoff. It is the second Rival rung, one step above the rating that hands out the season's Elite transmog set, and the Gladiator mount and the top of the ladder both sit well above it. What makes it the reward people actually chase is that it is the last one on the ladder that a normal player can realistically hold: high enough that the illusion means something when it shows up on your weapon, low enough that it is a push rather than a career. Most people who want it are not far off it. They are stuck one bracket below with the wrong gear.
