Cutting Edge: Ula'tek is the Feat of Strength for killing the final boss of a tier on Mythic while that tier is still current, and it is the single hardest thing to buy back later, because it cannot be bought back later at all. Once the next raid tier opens it stops being earnable and stays off your record permanently. The same kill carries the Venom's End title and Mythic: The Venomous Abyss, the ordinary Mythic completion achievement, which is permanent rather than tier-limited. Between them, a Mythic Ula'tek kill is the only place in Season 2 where a raid record and a title arrive on the same pull.

The Primeval Skyfriend Mount

Primeval Skyfriend is Season 2's prestige flying mount, and it drops from Ula'tek on Mythic and nowhere else. The Crimson Venomfang, the raid's other mount, comes from the Glory of the Venomous Abyss Raider meta-achievement instead, so the two are not interchangeable. What matters about the Skyfriend is the timing: while Season 2 is running it is a guaranteed drop from the kill, and once the season closes it reverts to a rare drop from the same boss, which is the shift every Mythic end-boss mount in the game has been through. The mount does not become unobtainable, it becomes a farm, and the difference between those two things is the entire reason to take the kill while the season is live.

Myth 9 Loot and the Season's Ceiling

Mythic loot starts at 318 on the Myth track and climbs as you go deeper, and every ordinary piece upgrades six Mistcrest ranks from there to 335. The last two bosses break that pattern. Blizzard put Very Rare items and everything dropped by the penultimate and final encounters at the Myth 9 step, item level 344, whether it comes from the boss or the Great Vault, which means the best gear in the season arrives finished rather than needing a track's worth of crests behind it. Your Mythic Great Vault pick lands at Myth 6/6, which is 335, and raid bonus rolls now cost one Nebulous Voidcore instead of two. In practical terms the back half of a Mythic clear is worth more than the front half by a wide margin.

Why the Roster Is the Real Barrier

Mythic is the only difficulty in the raid with a fixed group size: exactly twenty players, no flexing down on a bad night, no filling in with whoever is online. That single rule is what separates Mythic from everything below it, more than the tuning does. Heroic forgives a weak link; Mythic asks twenty people to execute three council fights and a collapsing final phase without one of them dropping a mechanic, week after week, until the kill lands. Most people who want Cutting Edge are not short on skill or on understanding, they are short on nineteen other people with the same schedule.
