When to Buy a Single Boss Instead of a Full Clear

A single boss kill makes sense when you do not need the whole raid. If your group already cleared most of the Venomous Abyss and one boss keeps wiping you, you pay for that kill alone. If you are chasing a specific reward - a tier set token, a trinket, or the Ula'tek kill for its mount and achievement - you skip the bosses that drop nothing you want. And if you are short on time, one target is far quicker to schedule than a full eight-boss night.

Full clears still win on cost per kill and on tier-token volume across the raid. The single-boss route wins on control: you choose the target, the difficulty, and how much of the raid you actually pay for.

How Single Kills Fill Your Weekly Great Vault

The Great Vault raid row rewards you for boss kills each week, not for full clears. Two kills unlock the first slot, four unlock the second, and six unlock the third, and kills on any difficulty count toward the same row. That means six single kills across the week give you the same three Vault choices as a full raid night, without the bosses you do not care about.

Because the lockout is one kill per boss per difficulty each week, the difficulty you buy sets how high your Vault rewards can roll - Mythic kills open the highest item-level options the raid row can give.

How long does a single boss kill take?

What does the Ula'tek kill grant on Heroic and Mythic?

A Heroic Ula'tek kill earns the Ahead of the Curve achievement for the raid, and a Mythic Ula'tek kill earns Cutting Edge along with the Primeval Skyfriend mount. Every other boss you pick drops loot and can drop Venom Idol tier tokens for your set.
