What The Grandfather Does

The Grandfather is a Mythic Unique two-handed sword, one of the handful of legendary Iconic Mythics in Diablo 4 and a weapon with a long history across the series. Its Unique effect is simple and enormous: it grants +120% Critical Strike Damage in Season 14, a flat multiplier stacked on top of whatever crit damage your build already runs. Every Mythic drops as an Ancestral item at 800 Item Power with at least one Greater Affix, and its other properties roll higher than a normal Unique. Because it answers the Critical Strike Damage problem that almost every damage build runs into, it fits far more widely than it once did - long seen as a Barbarian item, it now suits crit-focused two-handed builds across the Barbarian, Necromancer, Paladin, and Warlock. Why It Is So Hard to Get

The Grandfather is an Iconic Mythic, which puts it among the lowest drop rates in Diablo 4. It can drop from any boss encounter in the Torment tiers, and the odds rise with the Torment level, but the fastest targets are the hardest bosses: Belial has the highest drop rate by far, Andariel and Duriel come next, and the Corrupted Reaper is the season's best Mythic source overall.
