Diablo 4 El'Druin, Sword of Justice (S14): Cooldown Speed Sword

By Published Updated ~4 min

Full El'Druin, Sword of Justice guide for Diablo 4 Season 14: how its Elite-kill cooldown effect works, the affixes, why it is an S-tier speed-farm weapon, the builds that use it, where to farm it, and how to craft it.

El'Druin, Sword of Justice is Tyrael's own blade, a Mythic one-handed sword nearly every class can wield, and it is one of the strongest speed-farming weapons in Diablo 4 Season 14. Its effect is simple and brutal: defeat an Elite pack and all of your Skill Cooldowns drop by 10 seconds for the next 12 seconds. Chain those kills and your best abilities stay up almost permanently.

This is a full breakdown - the exact effect and how the cooldown window works, its stats and affixes, whether it is worth a weapon slot, the classes and builds that want it, where to farm it, and how to craft it.

What El'Druin Does

It pairs one powerful utility effect with a strong offensive stat line:

Component
Detail
Cooldown reset
Defeating an Elite pack reduces all your Skill Cooldowns by 10 seconds for 12 seconds
All Damage Multiplier
A large guaranteed damage multiplier - a rare and valuable affix on a weapon
Weapon Damage
The other guaranteed affix; base scaling for your hits
Base stats
Also carries All Skills, All Stats and Life, and it is Indestructible
Mythic form
As an Iconic Mythic it rolls all affixes at maximum and adds 30% Unique Power

The cooldown effect is the headline, but the guaranteed All Damage Multiplier is what keeps it relevant for damage too - it is not just a speed tool, it hits hard.

How the Cooldown Reset Works

The whole item is about turning Elite kills into near-permanent cooldown uptime:

  • The 12-second window - each Elite pack you kill knocks 10 seconds off every Skill Cooldown and keeps the reduction rolling for 12 seconds.
  • Chain the kills - kill another Elite pack before the 12 seconds lapse and the window refreshes, so in dense content your cooldowns are effectively always up.
  • It touches your whole kit - anything gated behind a cooldown (mobility, buffs, ultimates) comes back faster, which raises both your clear speed and your survivability at once.

Veterans will recognise it as the Diablo 4 version of In-geom from Diablo 3, and it is just as strong here. Note that a launch bug which stopped its power from working has since been fixed.

Stats & Affixes to Chase

Its two guaranteed affixes are fixed, so aim the rest of your rolls, Tempers and the Occultist reroll at what your build wants:

Affix
Notes
All Damage Multiplier
A guaranteed multiplier and the bulk of its damage - always max it out
Weapon Damage
The other guaranteed affix; base scaling for your hits
Cooldown Reduction
Stacks with the effect to keep your cooldown-gated skills up even more
Attack Speed / Crit
Standard weapon scaling for your class
Core stat / Life
General scaling and survivability for pushing

In Season 14 the Occultist can reroll one undesirable affix on an Iconic Mythic, and any affix added through Enchanting or Tempering lands at its max roll on a Mythic.

Is It Worth Using in Season 14?

For most cooldown-based builds this is one of the easiest upgrades in the game:

  • For speed farm and mapping - absolutely. Near-permanent cooldown uptime plus a guaranteed damage multiplier makes it S-tier, and it came through the Mythic rework as one of the best weapons in the game.
  • For builds that need a specific weapon - if your build requires its own unique weapon, you cannot slot El'Druin, so it loses out there.
  • Overall - a top-tier, near-universal pick that outclasses other all-class swords like Doombringer outright. See where it sits in our Season 14 tier list.

Who Uses It & Best Builds

It fits any cooldown-hungry build that does not already require a specific weapon. The clearest winners:

  • Sorcerer - chain Teleport and cooldown-gated spells for constant mobility and burst; see our Sorcerer build guide.
  • Barbarian - keep shouts, buffs and Call of the Ancients rolling far more often; see our Barbarian build guide.
  • Druid and Rogue - Shred Druid and cooldown-leaning Rogue setups love the constant uptime, as do Minion Warlocks wanting their big cooldown out more often.

The one exception is Spiritborn, who cannot equip swords. It also pairs thematically with Tyrael's Might, Tyrael's chest, from the same Mythic pool.

Where & How to Farm It

It is part of the Mythic Unique pool, so it can drop from any boss once you are on Torment 1 or higher. It is genuinely rare, so target the sources with the best odds:

Source
Notes
Belial
The best drop source for it by far
Lair Bosses
Strong targets from the permanent and seasonal pool
Undercity Mythic Tributes
A guaranteed random Mythic route - a reliable way to roll for it
Helltide chests
A non-boss chance while you farm Cinders

One more 3.1.1 note: a bug that stopped some sources, including Lair Bosses, from dropping Mythics at all was fixed, so boss farming pays properly again. The full boss picture is in our boss loot table, and general routes are in our Mythic Unique farming guide.

How to Craft & Upgrade It

As an Iconic Mythic, the Jeweler and the Cube's Upgrade to Mythic only make standard Mythics from the general pool - they cannot target El'Druin. To craft it:

  • Blacksmith Iconic recipe - 2 Resplendent Sparks produce a random Iconic Mythic. That pool is only the handful of named Mythics, so your odds are far better than any general-pool method.
  • Natural drop - the other route, and the best outcome since it does not use up your one crafted-Mythic slot.
  • Blacksmith Mythic Cache - since patch 3.1.1 El'Druin is also included in the Blacksmith's Mythic Cache pool, one more roll at it.
  • Occultist and Temper - reroll one undesirable affix and Temper it around your build; added affixes land at max roll on a Mythic.
  • Spark and rune costs are in our crafting cheat sheet and Mythic Uniques 3.0 guide.

Tips & Common Mistakes

  • Play it in dense content. It is strongest where Elite packs are constant - Nightmare Dungeons, Infernal Hordes, The Pit and Helltides - so the 12-second window never drops.
  • Build around cooldowns. The more your power is gated behind cooldowns, the more the effect gives you, so lean into mobility, buffs and ultimates.
  • Do not forget the damage multiplier. The guaranteed All Damage Multiplier means it is not only a speed tool - always Masterwork it high.
  • Skip it on Spiritborn and on builds locked to their own unique weapon - there it simply is not an option.

FAQ

What does El'Druin, Sword of Justice do in Diablo 4 Season 14?

It is a Mythic 1H sword for nearly every class. Defeating an Elite pack reduces all your Skill Cooldowns by 10 seconds for 12 seconds, and it carries a guaranteed All Damage Multiplier, All Skills, All Stats and Life. It is one of the best speed-farm weapons in the game.

Which class can use El'Druin?

Any class that can equip a sword, which is every class except Spiritborn. That makes it one of the most universal Mythics in the game.

How does the cooldown effect work?

Each Elite pack you kill reduces all Skill Cooldowns by 10 seconds and keeps that reduction active for 12 seconds. Chain Elite kills before the window lapses and your cooldowns stay effectively always up.

Is El'Druin good in Season 14?

Yes - it is S-tier. Near-permanent cooldown uptime plus a guaranteed damage multiplier make it one of the strongest speed-farm and mapping weapons in the game, and it clearly outclasses other all-class swords like Doombringer.

What builds use El'Druin?

Any cooldown-hungry build that does not need its own unique weapon: Sorcerer (chain Teleport), Barbarian (shouts and buffs), Shred Druid, cooldown Rogues and Minion Warlocks. Spiritborn is the exception, since it cannot use swords.

What stats should I chase on El'Druin?

Its guaranteed All Damage Multiplier and Weapon Damage carry the damage, so add Cooldown Reduction to lean into the effect, plus Attack Speed, Critical Strike and your core stat. Always Masterwork the damage multiplier high.

How do I get El'Druin?

It drops from the Mythic Unique pool on any boss at Torment 1 or higher, best from Belial, with Lair Bosses and Undercity Mythic Tributes also strong, and a chance from Helltide chests. See our Mythic Unique farming guide.

Can I craft El'Druin at the Jeweler?

No. As an Iconic Mythic the Jeweler and the Cube's Upgrade to Mythic only make standard Mythics. You target it through the Blacksmith random Iconic recipe (2 Resplendent Sparks) or find it as a natural drop.

Is El'Druin like In-geom from Diablo 3?

Very much so. Both slash cooldowns on Elite kills and bring back the fast, cooldown-spamming playstyle - El'Druin is the Diablo 4 version of that effect.

Is El'Druin related to Tyrael's Might?

Both are Tyrael's gear - El'Druin is his sword and Tyrael's Might is his chest. They are separate Iconic Mythics from the same Mythic pool, so either can drop while you farm.
