Patch 3.1.1 (Build #72836) went live on July 14, 2026 as the first major update to Diablo 4 Season 14, Season of Death Awakening. The community nicknamed it the Mythic patch because its headline changes all target Mythic farming: cheaper crafting, a much stronger Corrupted Reaper, and fixes to the bugs that made Mythics feel unobtainable. Two days later a follow-up hotfix (3.1.1a) went further, removing the one-crafted-Mythic limit and buffing the Reaper again.
This is the complete overview of everything in 3.1.1 and the 3.1.1a hotfix, in plain terms, with links to our deep-dive guides for each system. If you only read one thing: Mythic crafting is cheaper, the Corrupted Reaper is the best it has ever been, and you can now equip more than one crafted Mythic.
Patch 3.1.1 at a Glance
Change | What it means |
|---|---|
Upgrade to Mythic now costs 4 Fragments | Down from 5 - every Mythic craft is 20% cheaper |
Corrupted Reaper drops up to 2 Fragments | Scales with Torment; the same key pays double the material |
Glints of Hope guarantees a Fragment | The repeatable reputation reward finally pays reliably |
Deathtoll Chambers guarantee a Superior Lair Key | On high Torment - the key bottleneck eased |
Higher chance a natural Mythic is Iconic | The 13-item chase tier is more reachable |
Lair Boss Mythic-drop bug fixed | Bosses that silently dropped no Mythics work again |
Hotfix 3.1.1a: one-crafted-Mythic limit removed | You can now equip multiple crafted Mythics |
Why This Patch Mattered
Season 14 launched on June 30 with the Mythic 3.0 rework, which let every Unique be upgraded to a Mythic. In practice the season felt rough: Mythics were hard to craft, Iconic drops felt nonexistent, and a bug was quietly blocking Mythic drops from several sources. Patch 3.1.1 is Blizzard's response - a targeted pass at those exact pain points rather than a content drop. The 3.1.1a hotfix two days later addressed the loudest remaining complaint, the single-crafted-Mythic restriction.
Mythic Crafting Got Cheaper
The core Mythic economy was rebalanced in the player's favour:
- Upgrade to Mythic costs 4 Pandemonium Fragments, reduced from 5 - a flat 20% discount on every craft.
- Pandemonium Fragments are easier to farm - the Corrupted Reaper now pays up to two per Hoard scaling with Torment, and the repeatable Glints of Hope reputation reward guarantees one.
Together these make Mythic crafting meaningfully faster. The full source list, recipe rules and spending strategy are in our Pandemonium Fragments guide.
Iconic Mythic & Drop Fixes
The season's rarest chase items got a direct boost and a critical bug fix:
- Higher Iconic odds - a naturally dropped Mythic is now more likely to roll as one of the 13 Iconic Mythics.
- The no-drop bug is fixed - certain Unique sources, including Lair Bosses, were silently dropping no Mythics at all. That is resolved, so boss farming pays properly again.
- El'Druin, Sword of Justice was added to the Blacksmith's Mythic Cache, giving the season's best speed-farm sword one more route.
The full 13-item list, the real drop odds and the Sparks craft are in our Iconic Mythics guide.
Superior Lair Keys & Deathtoll Chambers
The key bottleneck that gated the Corrupted Reaper was one of the patch's biggest fixes:
- Deathtoll Chambers always reward at least one Superior Lair Key on high Torment tiers, removing the RNG wall where clears could pay nothing.
- A Seasonal Reputation Board was added to Temis, giving another repeatable reputation source.
- Nemesis Lair triggering was fixed in the Corrupted Reaper's Boss Lair, so the ambush chain works there as intended.
The whole three-tier key system and the Deathtoll route are in our Lair Keys guide.
The 3.1.1a Hotfix (July 16)
Two days after the patch, a hotfix delivered the change players had asked for most, plus another Reaper buff and a rollback:
- The one-crafted-Mythic equipment restriction was removed - you can now wear multiple crafted Mythics at once. Blizzard signalled it may return the rule for one specific crafting path in Season 15.
- Corrupted Reaper Mythic and Iconic drop rates were increased again, stacking on the patch-day buffs.
- The Cube can no longer add the Mythic modifier to Unique Charms and Seals - the short-lived Mythic Charm was called an unintended side effect and removed from that route.
The removed one-crafted rule is the single most impactful change for build variety this season. The full story of the shadow-dropped Mythic Charms is in our Mythic Charm guide.
Other Fixes & Class Changes
Beyond the Mythic headline, 3.1.1 cleaned up a range of smaller issues:
Fix | Detail |
|---|---|
Tower rewards | Fixed an issue where only one party member received Tower rewards |
Season Rank objective | Terrorize the Night now progresses correctly |
Shadow Clone (Rogue) | No longer incorrectly triggers extra Shrine effects, including extra Deathtoll Chamber spawns |
Dark Refuge dungeon | Fixed part of the map failing to load |
Artificer's Obelisk | Removed a stray beta tag |
Cosmetic | Fixed a clipping issue on a mount armor |

Gift of the Tree Event
Patch 3.1.1 also launched the Gift of the Tree event, running July 14 to July 21. For that week, every Tree of Whispers turn-in grants a bonus reward cache, making it the fastest way to stockpile gold, materials and Pandemonium Fragments while the crafting discount is live. The full bounty strategy and node setup are in our Gift of the Tree guide.
What to Do Right Now
How to turn the patch into progress this week:
- Farm the Corrupted Reaper - buffed twice, it is now clearly the best Mythic and Fragment source. Bank Superior Lair Keys and run it in bursts.
- Craft more freely - with the one-crafted limit gone and the cost at 4 Fragments, crafting a second and third Mythic is finally worthwhile.
- Use the event - Gift of the Tree doubles your Whisper caches through July 21; pair it with Rupture dungeon bounties for Fragments.
- Go back to Lair Bosses - the drop bug is fixed, so the bosses you gave up on are worth your keys again.
