Sunreach is the cluster of floating sky islands added in Palworld 1.0, and you cannot reach it by flying: you unlock it by defeating Bjorn and Bastigor at the Feybreak Tower, stepping through the portal that appears on top, then disabling six defense modules to drop the whirlwind guarding the central tower. Inside waits the Level 68 tower boss Auri and Shaolong - the eighth and final standard tower, and the gate to the World Tree endgame.
The region is also the home of Soralite, the ore behind 1.0's best gear, and a batch of Pals found nowhere else. Here is the full unlock, all six modules, the boss fight, and what to farm.
Sunreach at a Glance
Step | What to do |
|---|---|
1. Feybreak Tower | Defeat Bjorn and Bastigor at -1294, -1669 (bring cold-resist gear) |
2. Portal | Use the altar that opens on top of the tower to teleport to Sunreach |
3. Cross the islands | Fly between the floating islands, or use the purple teleport orbs if you have no mount |
4. Defense modules | Find and disable all six to shut down the whirlwind around the central tower |
5. Auri and Shaolong | Enter the Tower of the Azure Covenant (-419, -1431) and beat the Level 68 duo |
6. Rewards and beyond | Earn 5 Ancient Technology Points, farm Soralite and new Pals, continue toward the World Tree |
Step 1: Clear the Feybreak Tower
Sunreach stays hidden from your map until you clear its gate: the Feybreak Tower on the southern edge of Feybreak Island at coordinates -1294, -1669, in the southwestern corner of the world. The whole area runs bitterly cold, so equip cold-resistant armor and accessories or you take steady environmental damage on the approach. Feybreak Island is also a strict anti-air zone with automated turrets, so expect a fight to even reach the tower on foot.
The tower boss is Bjorn and Bastigor, a mandatory Level 60 fight. Clearing it is the prerequisite for everything in Sunreach - our Tower Bosses guide covers this fight and the seven before it.
Step 2: Take the Portal to Sunreach
With Bjorn and Bastigor down, climb to the top of the Feybreak Tower and interact with the altar that has appeared there (it sits just southwest of the tower). Confirm the teleport and you load into Sunreach for the first time. This portal is the only entrance - there is no flying to the sky islands from the surface, which is why so many players waste time circling the ocean before clearing the tower.
Step 3: Navigate the Sky Islands
Sunreach is not one landmass but several floating islands scattered across the sky, and the level jumps immediately: expect enemies and spawns of Level 60 and above throughout, so arrive geared and near the cap. Getting around comes down to your mount:
- With a flying mount - fly directly between islands, the fastest and cleanest way to explore and to reach the defense modules.
- Without one - use the floating purple teleport orbs scattered across the islands. Each warps you to another location in the region, so they are the intended traversal tool for players who have not caught a flyer yet.
A flying mount makes the whole region far smoother, so if you do not have a good one, this is the moment to breed or catch it before pushing deeper.
Step 4: Disable All Six Defense Modules
The central tower is wrapped in a permanent whirlwind (a maelstrom of flying rock and light beams) that blocks all access - you cannot fight the boss until it drops. The light beams are your map: each is tied to one of six Defense Modules scattered across the islands, and shutting down all six clears the whirlwind. Fly or teleport to each beam and interact with its module to disable it.
Two practical notes. In multiplayer, every player has to disable the modules for themselves, not just the host, so coordinate the sweep. And since the modules double as a guided tour of the region, use the trip to scout Soralite nodes and new Pal spawns for later - you will be crossing the whole of Sunreach anyway.
Step 5: Beat Auri and Shaolong
With the whirlwind gone, enter the Tower of the Azure Covenant on the Azure Tapestry island (fast-travel coordinates -419, -1431) to face the eighth tower boss. Auri fights while riding Shaolong, a Level 68 Water and Dragon Pal with around 327,600 HP - so Ice and Electric attacks are your best tools, with Frostallion and Orserk as standout picks. The recommended level is 70. One hitbox quirk: Shaolong's fur does not register damage, so aim for the blue parts of its body.
The fight runs in two phases with a memorable arena gimmick:
- Phase 1 (Dragon) - fought in a sinkhole with stone pillars. Shaolong leans on Dragon moves like Comet Strike and Blast Cannon; the one to respect is Azure Dracoflare, a sweeping wave of azure flame across the ground. Electric skills like Lightning Streak can briefly stun it for free damage windows.
- Phase 2 (Water) - Shaolong floods the arena, leaving only the pillar tops as safe ground, so a flying mount to attack from the air trivializes most of its Water skills. At around 100,000 HP it casts Celestial Vortex, pulling everything to the center while draining the flood and resetting the arena to phase one - dodge it by tucking behind a pillar or racing outward on a fast mount.
Win and you earn character XP, Pal XP, and 5 Ancient Technology Points, the same as every tower. More importantly, beating Auri and Shaolong closes out the Sunreach quest thread and, combined with the other towers, opens the path to the World Tree.
What to Farm in Sunreach
Sunreach is not just a boss gate - it is a farming region with two exclusive prizes:
- Soralite - the sky-island ore that feeds 1.0's top-tier gear. If you are chasing the best endgame weapons and armor, Sunreach is where the raw material comes from, so bank it every trip.
- Region-exclusive Pals - several new 1.0 Pals spawn only here, including Shaolong itself and Silvance. With the capture bonus completing at 5 catches per species in 1.0, sweeping the local spawns is a fat XP payout on top of the Paldeck entries - see our new Pals guide for the full list and where each one lives.
Because everything here is Level 60 plus with poor catch rates on cheap spheres, bring high-tier Pal Spheres and raise your Capture Power with Pal Effigies before a hunting run.
Sunreach Tips and Common Mistakes
- Do not fly out looking for Sunreach. It is unreachable until you clear the Feybreak Tower and take the portal - circling the ocean wastes time.
- Pack cold-resist gear for Feybreak. The approach to the tower deals steady cold damage without it.
- Bring a flying mount. It turns both the module hunt and the boss phase two from a chore into a breeze.
- Aim for Shaolong's blue parts. The fur eats damage - shots on it are wasted.
- Save an escape for Celestial Vortex. Position behind a pillar or sprint outward on a mount before the pull lands.
- In co-op, everyone disables the modules. The whirlwind only drops once each player has done their own sweep.
- Farm on the way, not on a second trip. Scout Soralite and Pal spawns during the module hunt so you are not re-crossing the region later.

FAQ
How do you unlock Sunreach in Palworld?
Defeat Bjorn and Bastigor at the Feybreak Tower (-1294, -1669), then interact with the altar that appears on top of the tower to teleport into Sunreach. You cannot reach the sky islands by flying - the portal is the only entrance, and it only opens after the tower boss is down.
How do you disable the defense modules in Sunreach?
The central tower is guarded by a whirlwind tied to six Defense Modules scattered across the floating islands, each marked by a light beam. Fly or use the purple teleport orbs to reach each beam and interact with its module. Disabling all six clears the whirlwind and opens the boss tower. In multiplayer, every player must do this themselves.
What level should I be for Sunreach?
Around Level 70. The sky islands are full of Level 60-plus enemies and spawns, and the Auri and Shaolong tower boss is Level 68, so arriving underleveled makes both the exploration and the fight much harder. Endgame gear and a flying mount are strongly recommended.
How do you beat Auri and Shaolong?
Shaolong is a Level 68 Water and Dragon Pal (around 327,600 HP), so bring Ice and Electric attackers like Frostallion and Orserk, and aim for the blue parts of its body since the fur takes no damage. Phase one is a Dragon sinkhole fight; phase two floods the arena, so use a flying mount, and dodge the Celestial Vortex pull behind a pillar or by racing outward.
What is Soralite used for in Palworld?
Soralite is the ore exclusive to the Sunreach sky islands, and it feeds 1.0's top-tier gear - the best endgame weapons and armor. If you are gearing for the World Tree and the Sealed Calamity finale, Sunreach is where you farm the raw material, so bank it on every trip.
Do you need Sunreach to reach the World Tree?
Yes. Auri and Shaolong is the eighth and final standard tower boss, and beating every tower - including this one - is a prerequisite for opening the World Tree through the Panthalus questline. Sunreach is the gate you clear on the way to Palworld's endgame region and final boss.
