Xenolord is the hardest raid boss in Palworld 1.0 - a Level 60 Dark and Dragon colossus with 1,316,000 HP, a 10-minute timer, and a relentless attack cycle that punishes a single mistake. You cannot catch it: you summon it with a crafted Slab, beat it inside the timer, and claim a Huge Dark Egg that hatches your own Xenolord. The two things that decide the fight are exploiting its double weakness to Dragon and Ice, and using the Palbox strategy so its own attacks work against it. This guide covers how to unlock and summon the raid, its attack cycle, the best team and gear, every drop, the Ultra variant, and how to hatch and ride your Xenolord afterward.
If a straight damage race against 1.3 million HP sounds brutal, it is - which is exactly why almost nobody fights it that way. Here is the setup that turns it into a manageable kill.

How to Unlock the Xenolord Raid
Before you can fight Xenolord, you need two structures and a crafted Slab:
Requirement | Tech Level | Materials |
|---|---|---|
Pal Expedition Station | 22 | Wooden Board 10, Stone 100, Paldium Fragment 20, Cement 20 |
Summoning Altar | 33 (3 Ancient Tech Points) | Stone 100, Paldium Fragment 20 - consumed each fight |
Xenolord Slab | Crafted at a Workbench | 4 Xenolord Slab Fragments |
The Summoning Altar is single-use - it is consumed every time you summon a boss - so keep a chest of Stone and Paldium Fragment right next to it to rebuild between attempts. Place the altar in a wide, open area well away from your main base, because the fight will level any structures nearby.
How to Get Xenolord Slab Fragments
The Slab is crafted from four Xenolord Slab Fragments, and there are two ways to farm them, both on Feybreak Island. First, run the dungeons scattered across Feybreak and loot the chests, including the ones near Alpha boss arenas - the same dungeons also drop Blazamut Ryu fragments. Second, and more reliable, send Pals on Expeditions from the Pal Expedition Station to the Dark Cave of Feybreak. Your success rate governs the payout: hit a total Firepower score of around 476,000 and a full run returns all four fragments at once, while a weaker roster returns fewer. Expeditions are the hands-off route - queue them and collect fragments while you do something else.
Xenolord's Attacks and the Adds
Xenolord fights on a loop of ranged bursts, a signature meteor storm, and constant reinforcements. Knowing the cycle is how you find your damage windows:
Attack | What it does | How to handle it |
|---|---|---|
Cosmic Meteor | Flies up and rains meteors, then crashes down | Bait it onto your Palbox; strike during the wind-up and landing |
Xenogards and Xenovaders | Adds that spawn from the meteors in waves | Kill them fast with AoE, or ignore them if you keep your distance |
Four-laser sweep | Lasers that hit the ground and air in a direction | Fight from a flying mount so you can dodge them |
Dash attacks | Fast melee lunges that punish being caught close | Keep range; do not stand in front of it |
The key read: Xenolord is vulnerable while it fires projectiles and while it winds up to fly. Those are your damage windows. Fighting on the ground makes the lasers and dashes far harder to avoid, so a flying mount is not optional against this boss.
The Palbox Strategy (How to Trivialize the Fight)
This is the method that turns Xenolord from a wall into a routine kill. Instead of tanking it head-on, you weaponize its own Cosmic Meteor:
- Build in the open. Place your Palbox and the Summoning Altar in a wide, empty area with nothing you care about nearby.
- Summon, then run. Use the Slab, then immediately sprint out of the Palbox's base radius.
- Let it target the Palbox. Once you are far enough away, Xenolord flies up and rains Cosmic Meteor down on the Palbox - which soaks all of it - instead of chasing you.
- Punish the windows. While it is distracted meteoring the Palbox, pour ranged fire into it during the wind-up and landing. Keep your distance and you can safely ignore the Xenogards and Xenovaders it spawns.
For a cleaner setup, build a dedicated raid base rather than using your production base, ideally near cover like the Desolate Churches where you can duck behind walls to heal and reload. Add Mounted Machine Guns and Missile Launchers so your weaker base Pals chip in without instantly dying, and keep a storage chest close to the Palbox so you are not hauling materials across the map between attempts. Raids are also far easier with friends - bring a squad if you can.
Best Team for Xenolord
Everything keys off Xenolord's Dark and Dragon typing, which is doubly exposed to Dragon and Ice damage. The strongest setup is a Frostallion mount backed by a Gobfin support party:
Pal | Role | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
Frostallion | Ride | Ice mount that resists Xenolord's Dragon attacks; infuses your shots with Ice |
Astegon | Base | Quad-resists Xenolord's Dark attacks - the sturdiest base pick |
Jetragon / Quivern | Base | Dragon damage hits both of Xenolord's types hard |
Cryolinx / Chillet / Vanwyrm Cryst | Base | Ice damage for consistent super-effective hits |
Gobfin (x4) | Party support | Their partner skill boosts your own damage - stack four for a huge multiplier |
Frostallion is the standout - an Ice-type flying mount that resists Xenolord's Dragon attacks and infuses your own shots with super-effective Ice while you ride it. Backing it with four Gobfin whose partner skill boosts your damage stacks into a huge multiplier, and giving both the Vanguard passive pushes it further. Where to catch Frostallion is in our legendary locations guide, and the best combat Pals overall are ranked in our tier list.
Best Gear and Weapons
Xenolord's continuous damage means survivability matters as much as DPS. The recommended loadout:
Slot | Pick | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Head | Hexolite Helmet | Best available headgear; use the Legendary schematic version if you have it |
Armor | Lightweight Hexolite Armor | Top defense without weighing you down |
Accessories | Attack Pendant, Life Pendant, Double Air Dash Boots, Triple Jump Boots | Damage, survivability, and the mobility to dodge lasers |
Shield | Advanced Shield | Extra buffer against a hit you cannot avoid |
Weapons | Laser Gatling Gun, Rocket Launcher, Poison Arrow Crossbow | Sustained DPS, AoE for adds, and HP-scaling poison |
The Laser Gatling Gun handles sustained damage, the Rocket Launcher clears the Xenogards and Xenovaders with AoE, and the boots give you the air mobility to weave through laser sweeps. If you own the Legendary schematics for the Hexolite gear or these weapons, craft those versions instead.
Why Status Damage Wins
Against a 1.3-million-HP boss, the single most efficient trick is burn and poison. Both deal damage that scales off the target's maximum HP, which means the bigger the health bar, the harder each tick lands - and Xenolord's bar is enormous. A Poison Arrow Crossbow with Poison Arrows quietly chews through that pool while you focus on dodging and your main weapons handle the rest. On a boss this size, a status effect that ignores the HP total is worth more than a flat damage upgrade, so always bring one.
Xenolord Drops and Rewards
Clearing the raid pays out a stack of endgame materials plus the egg itself:
Reward | What it is |
|---|---|
Huge Dark Egg | Hatches your own Xenolord (roughly 10% chance of an Alpha) |
Xenolord (Ultra) Slab | Summons the harder Ultra version |
Ancient Civilization Core x3 | Endgame crafting material |
Ancient Civilization Parts x10 | Endgame crafting material |
Power Fruit, Life Lotus (S) | Permanent stat and support items |
Training Crystal, Ruby | Pal XP item and valuable gem |
The Huge Dark Egg is the prize - it hatches your Xenolord - but the Ancient Civilization Cores and Parts are the reason to farm repeat kills, since they gate a lot of endgame crafting. Every clear also drops an Xenolord (Ultra) Slab, which is your ticket to the harder version.
Xenolord Ultra
Use the Ultra Slab and you fight a tougher Xenolord with 1,964,000 HP - close to double - on the same 10-minute timer, and it summons its adds more frequently. The drops are the same with one addition: the exclusive Xenolord's Head headgear, which is the only reason to grind the Ultra beyond the extra challenge. The same Palbox strategy, team, and status-damage approach carry over; you just need tighter execution and better-invested Pals to beat the clock against the larger bar.
After the Kill: Hatching and Riding Xenolord
Take the Huge Dark Egg to any incubator and it hatches into a usable Xenolord, with roughly a 10% chance of an Alpha version. As a Pal it is a genuine prize: its Meteor Wings partner skill makes it one of the fastest flying mounts in the game, second only to Jetragon. To ride it you need the Xenolord Saddle at Technology Level 60 (Leather 30, Dark Fragment 50, Meteor Fragment 30, Paldium Fragment 200). For how it stacks up against the other top flyers, see our best mounts guide. If you hatched a strong one, breed it to pass its stats and passives down - our breeding guide covers inheritance.
Xenolord Tips and Common Mistakes
- Never fight it near your base. Its attacks flatten structures - use a dedicated raid base in the open.
- Use the Palbox as bait. Run out of range after summoning and let Cosmic Meteor hammer the Palbox while you shoot from afar.
- Fight from a flying mount. Grounded, the lasers and dashes are far harder to dodge; Frostallion doubles as your Ice damage source.
- Always bring poison or burn. Status damage scales off max HP, so it does more against Xenolord than any flat upgrade.
- Pre-craft altars and slabs. Both the altar and slab are consumed per fight, so stock materials before you start a farming session.
- Clear or ignore the adds deliberately. AoE them down, or keep enough distance that they never reach you - do not get caught in between.
- Bring friends. Xenolord is the hardest raid in the game; a second player roughly halves the damage race.

FAQ
How do you beat Xenolord in Palworld?
Summon it in the open, then run out of your Palbox's radius so it targets the Palbox with Cosmic Meteor instead of you. Shoot it during its attack wind-ups from a flying mount like Frostallion, exploit its Dragon and Ice weakness, and stack poison or burn since that damage scales off its 1.3-million HP bar. Beat the 10-minute timer and it drops a Huge Dark Egg.
What is Xenolord weak to?
Xenolord is a Dark and Dragon type, so it is doubly exposed to Dragon and Ice damage. Ice mounts like Frostallion are ideal because they resist its Dragon attacks while dealing super-effective damage. Avoid Dark and Dragon attacks of your own, as they are resisted.
How do you summon Xenolord?
Craft a Xenolord Slab from four Xenolord Slab Fragments, build a Summoning Altar (Technology Level 33), and place the Slab in it. Fragments come from Feybreak Island dungeons and chests, or from Pal Expeditions to the Dark Cave of Feybreak - a Firepower score around 476,000 guarantees all four from one expedition. The altar is single-use.
Can you catch Xenolord?
No. Like all raid bosses, Xenolord cannot be captured with spheres. Instead, defeating it drops a Huge Dark Egg that hatches into a usable Xenolord, with roughly a 10% chance of an Alpha. That is the only way to add it to your team.
What does Xenolord drop?
A Huge Dark Egg (your Xenolord), a Xenolord Ultra Slab, three Ancient Civilization Cores, ten Ancient Civilization Parts, a Power Fruit, a Life Lotus (S), a Training Crystal, and a Ruby. The Ultra version adds the exclusive Xenolord's Head headgear.
How much HP does Xenolord have?
The standard Xenolord has 1,316,000 HP, making it the highest-HP raid boss in the game. The Ultra version has 1,964,000 HP - close to double - on the same 10-minute timer, which is why status damage that scales off max HP is so valuable against it.
Is Xenolord a good mount?
Yes. Once hatched, Xenolord's Meteor Wings partner skill makes it one of the fastest flying mounts in the game, second only to Jetragon. You need the Xenolord Saddle at Technology Level 60 to ride it, and it also brings strong Dark and Dragon combat skills.
