Palworld Zanara & Astralym (1.0): How to Beat the Final Boss

By Published ~6 min

Everything you need to beat Zanara and Astralym, the Level 80 final boss of Palworld 1.0: the typeless fight explained, the best Pals, passives, and weapons to bring, how to survive the immune phase and the wing charge attack, and the rewards for clearing the Sealed Calamity.

Zanara and Astralym are the Level 80 final boss of Palworld 1.0, waiting inside the tall tower at the western corner of the World Tree. The duo has around 420,000 HP and is completely typeless, so there is no elemental weakness to exploit - this is a pure gear and skill check. Beating them completes Palworld's main story. This guide covers the fight itself: what to bring, both phases, the immune-phase and wing-charge mechanics that end runs, the best Pals and passives, and the rewards.

If you have not opened the arena yet, that is a separate endgame chain (Panthalus, three sub-bosses, eight Key Spheres) - jump to the unlock section below and our full walkthrough. If you are already standing at the door, skip to the fight.

How to Unlock the Fight

The arena sits behind the game's longest gate. In short: clear every Tower Boss for all eight Key Spheres, open the World Tree with the Panthalus questline, then defeat the three Level 78 sub-bosses inside to break the inner seal. Our World Tree guide walks the entire unlock step by step, and our Tower Bosses guide covers the eight Key Spheres. The single most-missed step is the new Sunreach tower (Auri and Shaolong) - without its Key Sphere the final door stays sealed.

What to Bring

Because the boss is typeless, there is no clever counter-comp - you win by out-gearing and out-dodging it. Reach the level cap first, since your Pals cannot exceed your level:

Slot
Bring
Why
Your level
Level 80 (the cap)
Pals cannot exceed your level, so cap out first for max Pal power
Pals
5 Awakened, high-stat combat Pals
Include a healer and a flying Pal; typeless boss means raw power over element
Weapons
Drone Launcher, Plasma Rifle, or Beam Launcher
Top-tier Paloxite energy weapons carry the DPS check
Armor
Full Ancient Series set
Every hit is near-lethal, so max defense and a heavy shield
Accessories
Attack-boosting accessories + a heavy shield
Push raw damage and survivability, not element
Consumables
Healing items, stat foods
The fight is long; bring more healing than you think you need

Your Pals should be Awakened for the extra stats - see our Awakening guide - and armed with the top energy weapons from our new weapons guide. Keep a couple of strong Pals in reserve in the Palbox rather than sending your whole team in at once.

Phase 1: Stay Mobile

When the fight opens, Zanara fuses with Astralym, the six-winged dragon, and the arena fills with overlapping attacks - lasers, homing projectiles, tornadoes, and falling objects. The core rule is simple: never stand still. Use the new dodge and dash constantly, and stay mounted on a flying Pal whenever possible, since Astralym moves around the arena a lot and flight keeps you in range while dodging its big AoE. Open by commanding your Pals to hold while you draw aggro, then send them in and focus fire. A heavy shield absorbs most of the homing projectile damage, so keep it up.

Phase 2: The Wing Charge and Immune Phase

The fight's two run-enders both arrive later. Periodically Astralym flies to the center of the arena and begins charging a devastating attack - when you see it, immediately focus the wings (and the orbs on its legs) to interrupt the charge. Fail to break it in time and the attack can wipe you almost instantly. Get on a flying Pal for the vantage to hit the orbs quickly. Later still, the boss enters an immune phase on a timer: it takes no damage for a window, and when it drops you must burn a large chunk of HP fast before the timer resets it. Use the defensive-orb downtime to swap out dead Pals in the Palbox and top up healing. Keep cycling Pals as they fall and treat every attack as lethal.

Best Pals and Passives

Since element does not matter, prioritize your highest-stat combat Pals with strong Active Skills and, above all, the right passives. The three that carry endgame fights:

Passive
Type
Why it wins here
Demon God
Raw damage passive
Boosts overall damage, not just one element - ideal vs a typeless boss
Legend
All-round combat passive
From Legendary Pals; a top offensive and defensive boost
Lucky
Damage and work passive
Strong raw stat boost, stacks well with Demon God

Stacking Demon God, Legend, and Lucky onto your strongest combat Pals produces some of the best damage dealers in the game. They take breeding attempts to inherit, so build them ahead of time - our breeding guide covers passing passives down a line. A healer Pal (a Heart Drain user heals while damaging) and Ice attacks that can briefly stagger the boss round out a strong squad.

Rewards for Beating the Final Boss

Defeating Zanara and Astralym completes the final main mission and rolls Palworld's ending cutscenes - the main story is officially done. Astralym is added to your Paldeck as an encountered entry, though it cannot be caught, owned, or deployed by any current method; it exists only inside this fight. Clearing the boss also unlocks its Normal mode for repeat runs, so you can farm the encounter again. After the credits you keep playing in the same world - finish your Paldeck, build your bases, and mop up any remaining bosses and content.

Final Boss Tips and Common Mistakes

  • Hit the level cap first. Pals cannot exceed your level, so reaching 80 yourself is what lets your team fight at full strength.
  • Do not chase an elemental counter. The boss is typeless - raw stats, Awakening, and passives beat any type gimmick.
  • Break the wing charge every time. Focus the wings and leg orbs the instant the center charge starts, or it can one-shot you.
  • Bank damage for the immune window. Save cooldowns and burst so you can dump HP the moment the boss becomes vulnerable again.
  • Bring a healer and a flying Pal. Sustain plus mobility is worth more than a fifth damage dealer against overlapping AoE.
  • Keep reserves in the Palbox. Swap fallen Pals during the defensive-orb downtime instead of committing everything at once.

FAQ

How much HP does Zanara and Astralym have in Palworld?

The Level 80 duo has around 420,000 combined HP and is completely typeless, so there is no elemental weakness to exploit. It is a pure gear and skill check - you need top-tier weapons, full Ancient armor, and Awakened Level 80 Pals to grind the health bar down.

What is Astralym weak to?

Nothing - Astralym is typeless and has no elemental weakness, while still using attacks from multiple elements during the fight. Instead of chasing a counter element, bring your highest-stat combat Pals with strong passives like Demon God, Legend, and Lucky, and maximize raw damage.

How do you unlock the Zanara and Astralym fight?

Clear all eight Tower Bosses for their Key Spheres, open the World Tree with the Panthalus questline, then defeat the three Level 78 sub-bosses inside to break the inner seal. The most-missed step is the new Sunreach tower (Auri and Shaolong) - without its Key Sphere the final door stays locked.

Can you catch Astralym in Palworld?

No. Beating the boss adds Astralym to your Paldeck as an encountered entry, but it cannot be caught, owned, or deployed by any known method. The six-winged dragon is boss-exclusive and appears nowhere else in the game.

What level should you be for the Palworld final boss?

Level 80, the cap. Since your Pals cannot exceed your own level, reaching 80 yourself lets your Awakened team fight at full strength. If you are underleveled, farm high-level Alpha Pals and endgame activities first, or the typeless damage check will overwhelm you.

What are the best weapons for Zanara and Astralym?

The top-tier Paloxite energy weapons - the Drone Launcher, Plasma Rifle, and Beam Launcher - carry the damage check best, backed by full Ancient Series armor and a heavy shield. Attack-boosting accessories help more than any elemental choice since the boss is typeless.
