What Level 90 Opens on 18 August

Patch 12.1, Curse of Ula'tek, lands on 11 August 2026, and Season 2 opens one week later on 18 August. Those are two different dates doing two different jobs. The patch delivers the content; the season is what turns that content into a ladder with rewards attached. Between them sits a single hard gate that no amount of gold or gear gets you past: the character has to be level 90.

Level 90 is not a bonus in Midnight. It is the entry requirement for effectively everything the season contains - the season dungeons at Heroic and Mythic, the Mythic+ ladder, the season raid, ranked PvP, the higher Delve tiers, and the Great Vault that pays out on top of all of them. A level 88 character on the morning the season opens is not slightly behind. It is outside, watching, while the people it plays with start banking weekly rewards that do not come back later.

That is the whole argument for buying levels rather than grinding them at this point in the calendar. Leveling is the one part of World of Warcraft with no ceiling to chase and no ranking to defend. It is a fixed toll. Once it is paid, it is paid forever on that character, and the season is the same length whether you spend the first week of it questing in Eversong Woods or running Heroic dungeons at max level.

The Route from 80 to 90 Through Quel'Thalas

Midnight's own leveling content covers exactly ten levels, 80 through 90, and all of it sits in Quel'Thalas and its surrounding zones. The path runs Eversong Woods, then Zul'Aman, then Harandar, then The Voidstorm, with the expansion campaign threading through all four and gating the next zone behind the chapter before it. Silvermoon City is the hub the whole stretch reports back to.

The reason this stretch drags is not difficulty, it is shape. The campaign is chaptered, so it cannot be skipped ahead of; the zones are ordered, so they cannot be split across an evening in any order you like; and the quest chains are written for a first read, which is exactly what they stop being on a second character. Delves help, but less than their reputation suggests: each one carries a one-time quest that pays a solid chunk of experience, and after that quest is done the repeat runs pay very little. Delve spam is not a leveling strategy, it is a first-clear bonus.

There is one genuine shortcut in the system, and it only arrives after the work is already done once. Adventure Mode unlocks on an account after a first character finishes the main campaign, and from that point alts can pick the zone order freely instead of being walked through the chapters in sequence. It is the single strongest argument for getting the first character to 90 quickly rather than slowly - the first climb is the one that unlocks the easier version of every climb after it.

1-79 and 80-90 Are Two Different Jobs

A 1-90 order and an 80-90 order look like the same product with a different starting number. They are not. Below 80 the character is moving through a decade of older expansion content on scaled experience, where the fastest route is a group farm rather than anything the questing system offers, and the content itself poses no resistance. From 80 the character enters current content, where the campaign gating, the zone order and the quest density all apply to anyone taking the questing route, and the pace there is set by design rather than by how fast someone can clear.

Three buyers usually turn up on this page. The first has a brand-new or long-dormant account and needs the whole climb, 1 to 90, because nothing on the account is current. The second has a max-level main from the last expansion sitting at 80 and needs only the Midnight stretch - a much shorter order that hits the same finish line. The third has a main already at 90 and wants an alt, usually a specific class for a specific role in a specific group, which is where multi-character orders and Adventure Mode start to matter.

Knowing which of the three you are is the only decision that changes the price and the duration, which is why the configurator asks for a current level and a target level rather than selling one fixed package. Everything above 80 is the same work regardless of where the order started.

Where a Fresh 90 Lands in the Season 2 Gearing Ladder

Reaching 90 is the entry ticket, not the finish line, and it helps to know what the character walks into. Season 2 item levels start low and climb through clearly-marked rungs. Heroic season dungeons drop gear at item level 276, with the Great Vault paying 289 for the same activity. Mythic+0 sits at 292 with a 302 Vault. A timed +10 finishes at 311 in the run itself and 318 in the Vault the following week. Delves are the solo lane: Tier 8 drops 292, its weekly chest pays 305, and the Vault pays 305 at Tier 7 or 311 at Tier 8.

On top of the drops sits the upgrade system. Gear arrives on a named track and is pushed up that track with crests: Explorer covers 253 to 269, Adventurer 266 to 282, Veteran 279 to 295, Champion 292 to 308, Hero 305 to 321 and Myth 318 to 334. The number of upgrade steps on a track is not fixed for the season - Blizzard extends the tracks partway through, so a piece that looks capped in week two is usually not capped by the time the season is running properly.

PvP runs a parallel ladder with the split that catches people out every season: Honor gear is 331 inside PvP content and 263 in PvE, and Conquest gear is 344 inside PvP and 315 in PvE. Quoting the PvP number as if it applied everywhere is one of the most common mistakes on gearing pages, including some that sell boosts. If you are buying levels in order to gear through PvP, the number that matters outside a battleground is the lower one.

Mistcrests and What a Fresh 90 Can Actually Farm

Crests are the currency that turns a drop into an upgrade, and in Season 2 they are Mistcrests. They come in tiers, and each tier is tied to the difficulty of the content that pays it. Adventurer Mistcrests come from repeatable outdoor events and Delve Tier 4. Veteran comes from LFR difficulty in the season raid, Heroic season dungeons, and Delve Tiers 5 and 6. Champion comes from Normal raid, Mythic season dungeons, Mythic+ at +2 and +3, and Delve Tiers 7 through 10. Hero comes from Heroic raid, Mythic+ between +4 and +8, and Delve Tier 11. Myth comes from Mythic raid and Mythic+ at +9 and above.

The practical reading for a freshly-levelled character is that the bottom two tiers are open immediately and the rest unlock themselves as the item level rises. A 90 with no gear can farm Adventurer crests from outdoor content on day one and move into Veteran crests as soon as Heroic dungeons are comfortable. Nothing about the crest system is gated behind reputation, a quest chain or a prior season. It is gated behind being level 90 and being geared enough to clear the content that drops them, in that order.

The Great Vault Rewards One Choice a Week

The Great Vault fills in three rows every week and then hands over exactly one item. Not one per row, not one per activity - one, total, chosen from whatever the week's activity unlocked. The raid row needs 2, 4 and 6 bosses. The dungeon row needs 1, 4 and 8 runs. The world row needs 2, 4 and 8. Filling all nine slots produces a longer list to pick from, not a bigger payout.

This is the fact that makes the timing of a level boost worth more than it looks. The Vault resets weekly and does not backdate. A character that hits 90 early in a reset has that week's highest-value slot available; a character that hits 90 on the last day of a reset has almost none of it, and the week is simply gone. Over the opening month of a season that difference compounds into several item levels of separation between two otherwise identical characters, for no reason other than which day of the week each of them stopped leveling.

Leveling More Than One Character in a Single Order

Up to 12 characters can be levelled in one order. That exists because the second, third and twelfth climbs are where the content stops being a story and starts being a chore - the campaign chapters are identical, the zone order is identical, and the only variable is which class is pressing the buttons. Adventure Mode takes the sting out of the ordering, but it does not shorten the quests.

There is also a collection payoff at the end of that road. Class Connoisseur is a Feat of Strength awarded for reaching maximum level with every class in the game, which at present means thirteen characters at 90. It is not a seasonal reward, it does not expire, and it is the one achievement that a multi-character leveling order moves you directly toward rather than incidentally. Anyone chasing it is buying the same product as the person who just wants a second healer for Mythic+, in a larger quantity.

What AFK Leveling Means Here, and What This Boost Does Not Cover

AFK leveling means the character is logged in and standing with a group, not switched off somewhere. The group clears elite mobs on a loop, everyone standing with it banks the experience from those kills, and the climb moves without a single quest being turned in. Below 80 that farm currently sits in The Azure Span, where the elite density makes the loop worth repeating for hours at a time. Above 80 the same idea has its own locations on the Midnight maps. The distinction is worth keeping straight before you buy: a character that is logged out is not in the group and not in the world, so nothing is being farmed on its behalf. AFK is a place the character stands, not a state your account is in.

It is worth being equally clear about the boundary of the product. This service delivers levels. It does not deliver gear, and a fresh 90 is a fresh 90 - the gearing ladder described above still has to be climbed, whether by playing or by a separate order. It does not include the max-level campaign either: The War of Light and Shadow is a distinct achievement made of six questlines that only begins once a character is already at maximum level, and it is sold separately for exactly that reason. Professions, renown, skyriding mastery and Season 2 rating are all their own products. What arrives here is a character standing at 90, with everything it earned along the way still on it, eligible for every gate the season puts in front of it.
