What Running Mythic+ With a Friend Actually Changes

A Mythic+ party is five players. A standard carry hands you one of those five seats and fills the rest with the team. Running Mythic+ with a friend hands you two of them, side by side in the same keystone, and the team covers the remaining three.

That one change is worth more than it sounds, because some of what a key pays lands on the character and some of it lands on the party. Two seats out of five is the strongest position a paying customer can hold on either count.

What it removes is the split. The usual version of a duo is that one person buys a carry and the other tries to keep pace alone, queuing the same dungeon with a group under no obligation to beat the timer. Four days later one of you is sitting on a full Great Vault and the other has one row unlocked and a score that stopped moving on Tuesday. Nothing a run pays carries across to somebody who was not in it, which is the whole argument for being in the party together.

What Each of You Walks Away With

Drops and the Great Vault

The two numbers a +10 pays in Season 2 are 311 and 318, and they do not arrive the same way. The 311 sits in the end-of-run chest, which holds two guaranteed pieces for the whole party, so the useful question is how many of the five seats are yours rather than how many rolls you get. The 318 is the Great Vault option that same run feeds, the lowest Myth rung there is, and that one is genuinely per character: each of you builds your own progress and each of you opens your own Vault. The progress has three steps - one run, four runs, eight runs, all inside the same week.

The reason to run the week together instead of separately is that the two rows then fill in step. Eight runs with both of you in the party leaves both dungeon rows full on the same reset, and each of you takes exactly one reward out of your own Vault when it opens. Skip the shared session and one of you is chasing four more runs alone on Sunday night.

Mistcrests

Mistcrests are what Season 2 spends on upgrades, and which tier a run pays is decided by the key level rather than by who is standing in the dungeon. The bands are +2 to +3 for Champion, +4 to +8 for Hero, and +9 and above for Myth. Booking the session at +9 or above therefore keeps every run in the Myth band from start to finish, and that band does not drop because a second customer is sitting in the party rather than a booster.

Mythic+ Score

Score is tracked per character, and each dungeon contributes nothing but your strongest clear of it. When two of you finish the same key the run posts to both scores at once, which is as efficient as Mythic+ scoring gets. The wrinkle is that one run fills the same dungeon slot for both of you: if your Season 2 histories already differ, a dungeon your friend has never touched may be one you timed last week, and the clear moves their number further than yours. Early in a season the question never comes up.

Random Key or a Named Dungeon

The standard order runs a random dungeon, meaning whatever keystone the team happens to have on hand once your session opens. At the start of a season that is simply the right choice: no slot is filled for either character, so every dungeon is worth the same to both of you and there is nothing to optimise.

Pointing the key at a dungeon of your choosing is an option on the order, and it starts earning its place once your two records stop matching. A duo order carries a decision a solo order does not: whose gap it fills. If one of you has never timed Voidscar Arena and the other already has it done, naming it is a strong run for one character and a spent slot for the other. Compare notes before you order, not after.

The Season 2 Pool and the Reset That Levels Everyone

Eight dungeons carry the season: Kings' Rest, Ruby Life Pools, Temple of Sethraliss, Voidscar Arena, Murder Row, Den of Nalorakk, Altar of Fangs and The Blinding Vale. Each one is a separate slot on each character's record, which is why eight is the number that keeps coming up on this page.

Curse of Ula'tek, patch 12.1, goes live on 11 August 2026, and the season itself starts a week after that, on 18 August. Every score is wiped back to zero on that date and nobody holds a filled dungeon slot, which makes the opening weeks the cleanest stretch to run as a pair: your two records match because neither of you has one yet, so every key is worth full value to both characters.

Those eight dungeons carry their own teleports as well. Each has a Keystone Hero achievement of its own, and timing the key there at +10 is what earns it, which in turn opens the teleport. Both characters in a timed run earn it, so a session run as a pair collects two teleports where a solo session collects one.

How Many Dungeons to Order

The quantity you set on the order decides how many dungeons it covers, and one is a perfectly valid answer. There is no fixed package here and nothing to buy into: you decide how much of the week the session covers, and the two of you run all of it together.

The useful reference points belong to the Great Vault: one run opens the first dungeon slot, four opens the second, eight fills the row. Because both of you are in the party for every clear, an eight-run session finishes the row for both of you on the same reset. Past eight in a week the Vault stops improving and further runs pay crests and score instead.

One honest note before you order. If only one of the two characters actually needs the week, a single-character Mythic+ order is the cheaper way to buy it, and nothing on this page changes that. Does my friend need to place a separate order?

No. One order covers both characters, because the two of you occupy two of the five seats in the same party and the team fills the remaining three. Your friend does not check out separately and does not need an account with us. What we do need is both character names before the session starts, so the team knows who to invite, and the manager collects them when they confirm the details with you.

Do we need our own keystones?

Neither of you does. The team supplies the keystone for every run on the order, so neither of you has to hold one, farm one, or plan around one. It is also why the default here is a random dungeon: the key belongs to the team, so a run with no dungeon named on it goes to whichever keystone they are holding at the time.

Do we both get Great Vault progress and score?

Yes, and independently of each other. Both belong to the character rather than to the purchase, so one timed run posts a score to each of you and moves each of you a step along your own Great Vault. Gear is the one reward that does not work that way: the chest at the end hands two pieces to the group of five, picked for whichever players can use them, exactly as on any other Mythic+ run. What a duo order changes is that two of those five players are your characters.

How many runs fill the Great Vault dungeon row?

Three runs are the ones that matter: the first, the fourth and the eighth, each of them unlocking one more slot in the dungeon row. The tally is kept per character and it restarts with the week, so runs spread across two different weeks do not add together, and a clear only registers on both tallies if both characters were in the party for it. What you unlock becomes claimable at the following weekly reset, one reward each.

Can we pick which dungeon the team runs?

You can name the dungeon when you place the order, and it is a paid option rather than the default. Leave it unset and the session simply uses the keystone the team already has, which is the efficient choice while neither of you has much Season 2 history. Once you do, agree between yourselves which dungeon you are naming, since each dungeon only ever contributes a character's strongest clear, and the same key will not always help the two of you equally.
