How Much One Hour Can Realistically Fix

An hour is enough time to fix a small number of things properly. It is not enough time to relearn a class from scratch, and any coach who tells you otherwise is selling the booking rather than the outcome.

What fits comfortably inside one session: a single boss you keep dying on, one dungeon route that keeps costing you time, your cooldown usage across a full fight, your positioning during one specific mechanic, or a rotation problem that shows up on every pull. These are narrow, they are visible while you play, and they can be corrected in the moment.

What does not fit: a full class rebuild across every talent tree, a top to bottom interface overhaul, and preparation for eight dungeons at once. Those are multi session projects. Players who try to cover all of it in sixty minutes usually leave with a list they never act on.

The practical move is to arrive with one problem rather than five. Coaches work faster when the target is specific, and you can book again once the first fix has settled. Leaving time to practise between sessions is what turns a correction into a habit, so one problem solved properly is worth more than five explained quickly.

Standard and Advanced: What the Review Pass Adds

Both tiers buy the same live hour with the same calibre of coach. The difference is depth, not length.

Standard is guidance in the moment. Your coach is with you while you play, calling out what to change as it happens: the cooldown you held too long, the position that got you hit, the pull you took a second too early. Corrections land while the fight is still running, which is the reason they stick.

Advanced keeps all of that and adds a full review pass over the session. Rather than ending when the run ends, your coach goes back over what happened and works through it properly, so you leave with the reasoning behind each correction instead of only the correction itself. Choose Standard when you already know roughly what is going wrong and want it fixed. Choose Advanced when you do not know what is going wrong, or when the same problem keeps returning after you thought you had solved it. The second case is almost always a habit rather than a single mistake, and habits need the analysis pass to surface.

Joint Play or Spectate: Choosing How the Session Runs

You pick the format at booking, and the right choice depends on what you want to walk away with.

Joint play puts your coach in the group with you. You run the content together and the coaching happens inside a real pull with real pressure. This is the stronger option for mechanics and execution, because you are practising under the exact conditions you will face once the session is over.

Spectate is the other side of it. Your coach watches and talks you through the run over voice without taking a slot in the group. Nothing is being carried, and there is no chance that a stronger player quietly covers a mistake you needed to see. This is the stronger option for diagnosis, for rotation work, and for anything you want explained without a fight interrupting the explanation.

Neither format involves handing over your account. You stay on your own character throughout, which is also why every correction is one you performed yourself rather than one you watched somebody else perform.

What to Have Ready Before Your Coach Logs In

Preparation is the largest single variable in how much an hour returns.

Have the content ready to run. If the session is about a Mythic+ dungeon, have a key on hand or know which dungeon you want to work on. If it is about a raid boss, know which boss and which difficulty. Time spent deciding is time not spent coaching.

Be specific about the problem. My damage is low is a symptom. Losing most of your damage in the third phase because you are moving is something a coach can act on within minutes. If you cannot tell which of the two you have, say so and pick Advanced, because finding it is exactly what the review pass is for.

Have voice working before the hour starts. Scheduling and follow-ups run through a private Discord channel, so test your microphone there rather than burning session time on it.

Finally, be willing to play badly in front of someone. The session only works if your coach sees your normal play rather than a careful performance. Nothing gets fixed that you do not let them see.

The Season 2 Fights a Coach Prepares You For

Season 2 opens on 18 August 2026. What follows is the content a PvE coaching session will be working on for this season, and it is the part of this page that changes when the season does.

The Venomous Abyss is the season raid, eight bosses deep, finishing on Ula'tek. Tidebound Grotto is the single boss lair running alongside it, built around Nymrissa Wavecaller. The Mythic+ rotation runs eight dungeons: Altar of Fangs, Murder Row, Den of Nalorakk, The Blinding Vale, Voidscar Arena, Kings' Rest, Ruby Life Pools and Temple of Sethraliss.

Coaching demand concentrates in two places every season. The first is the opening weeks of a raid tier, when nobody has the fights memorised and a coach who has already run them is worth more than at any other point in the season. The second is the Mythic+ climb, where the same routing and cooldown mistakes cost the same seconds every week until somebody points them out.

Keystone rating tiers this season run Explorer, then Conqueror at 1500, Master at 2000, Hero at 2500, Legend at 3000 and Myth at 3400. Coaching does not push a rating for you. What it changes is how many attempts each step takes.

Coaching a Spec or Role You Just Switched To

A spec change is the situation where an hour of coaching returns the most, and it is the one players are most reluctant to book. Somebody who has raided for years on one spec reads a fresh one as a small adjustment, then finds that the cooldowns, the ramp and the movement windows all sit somewhere else.

Switching role is harder again. A DPS player moving to tank keeps the reflexes and loses the frame of reference: pull timing, mob positioning and cooldown planning against a route are not skills the old role trained. Moving to healing swaps a damage rotation for a triage problem where the correct answer is often to do nothing yet. Neither of those is a rotation to memorise, which is why practice alone tends to be slow at fixing them.

Bring the switch up when you book, so the hour opens on the right question. A session on a new spec is usually best spent on the two or three decisions that repeat every fight rather than on the full priority list, and a session on a new role is usually best spent on positioning and timing, because those are the parts your previous role never asked you to think about.

Reading Your Own Progress Between Sessions

The value of a session is decided in the two weeks after it, not during it.

Pick one measurable thing before the hour ends. Not playing better in general, but something you can actually check: whether you finish a fight without dying to the mechanic that kept killing you, whether a route saves the seconds you were losing, whether a cooldown lands where your coach said it should. One measure, checked across several runs rather than one.

Expect the first few runs after coaching to feel worse rather than better. Changing a rotation or a movement habit costs performance while it is still conscious effort. That dip is normal and it is short. Judging a session on the first pull afterwards is the most common way players talk themselves out of a change that was working.

Book your next session against a new problem rather than the same one. If the same problem genuinely has not moved, say so at the start of the next hour, because a problem that survives coaching is usually caused by something upstream of where you have been looking.
