Loot sharing depends on the difficulty. On Heroic:
Group Loot - you roll for drops with the other clients in the run. A smaller unsaved group means only a couple of items per boss, so this is the budget pick - it is about weekly Great Vault progress rather than a gear guarantee.
Unsaved Group Loot - the run is stacked with unsaved raiders, so more of each boss's loot drops and there is more to roll on, still shared with the other clients. Nothing is reserved - the roll winner keeps it - but your odds of leaving with gear go up.
Armor and Token Priority - your armor type and your tier tokens are reserved for you - no other client of your armor type rolls against you, and your class tokens are yours. Anything outside your armor type is still shared.
Full Priority - every drop for your class is yours - armor, your spec's stat pieces (necks, rings, trinkets and the rest) and tier tokens, none of it shared.
On Mythic, the kill runs Full Priority - every drop for your spec is yours, nothing shared.
On Mythic, the Venomous Abyss bosses are killed in order, so a target deeper in the raid includes clearing the bosses ahead of it that are still up on your weekly lockout.
